Blue Skies Camp '15

This term, we traveled to Blue Skies Camp in Kaiapoi for 2 nights and 3 days. We went fishing, tackled the confidence course, abseiled, and sped through the air on the flying fox.

Another great highlight was a tour of the Ashley River Wetland with Maka and Niall from Environment Canterbury. Catching sight of a group of Royal Spoonbills sweeping the mud for shell fish was spectacular. We also saw the threatened species, the Black Billed Gull as well as White Faced Herons and Pied Stilts. A favourite with everyone was hauling muddy Short Finned and Long Finned Eels from the water in traps. We made sand sculptures at Pines Beach and then went on an 'epic' walk that took 2.5 hours! Well, after that we were ready for something to eat and drink.

It was really fun making our own pizzas on the second night and playing spotlight! Many of us were sad when camp was over!

Here are a few photos or, you can see a slide show of all of them on the righthand side of the blog.
