Comic Creations

Room 3 children have been creating their own short comic strips this term.

1. We learnt about the visual and language features of comics and then used these to create our own short comic strip.

2. We had to come up with a short story that had a beginning, middle and end. We needed to include speech bubbles, thought bubbles, onomatopeia and narrator's boxes to add extra detail to the story.

Here's a sample...

Density

We have been studying the concept of density in relation to  floating and sinking. We made a "magic column" with golden syrup, oil and water and then floated different objects in them.  The layers occurred in the cup because the liquids had different densities. The golden syrup was most dense and sunk to the bottom while the oil was the least dense and floated on the top. The objects had different densities also which made them float in various parts of the cup.

In another experiment we had to make an egg hover in the middle of a cup of water. The equipment we were give was 2 eggs, fresh water, salt and 2 cups.
