Our Popcorn Containers!

Check out the variety of containers! Some of us were very close so we will decide on the winner tomorrow...
A cylinder, just shy of a few pieces...
The popcorn falls a wee bit short of the top..
About half the popcorn fits in to this container
Really interesting shaped container. Just a little large...
This container is a bit skinny! They realised they would need to increase the base size
A cone shape! Not quite big enough...
Very close to the top - Finalists!
Another container in the top 4! Extra frill on design...
Pleased to be in the top 4!
Lid on the design and finalists! They were going to change their dimensions but changed their mind at the last minute!

Volume Investigation

We have been investigating volume in maths which brings in so many other maths skills! We discovered several formulas that worked, for working out the volumes of different sized boxes during the investigation. Some of us are creating different sized boxes to work out the maximum possible volume, others are creating boxes to hold a certain number of 'branbix' and others working out volumes involving decimals...

Four 4s!

We did a rich maths task that was pretty interesting and more challenging that we first thought. It's called Four 4s. The aim was to make each number from 0-20 using only four 4s! We used factorial 4 (4!), the square root of 4, 4 to the power of 2, division, multiplication, addition and subtraction. Some numbers were harder to solve than others but we had an fun time doing so.

Number Visuals!

We looked at these visuals representing the numbers 1-28.

We looked for interesting patterns. It was incredible what was picked up!

We shared our findings...
